Jayden

I attended different schools, and nothing was working,” Jayden says. “There was fighting, drama. I had family members who had dropped out and I didn’t want to be in the same spot.”

The change for Jayden was dramatic and immediate, and he particularly appreciates how Riverside helped him set goals and stay focused on working through them. “My first day here, I set goals. Every day, I find myself checking off a new one. The work here explains more, my notes are better. It’s more organized.” The changes continued to his academic success, as Jayden proudly says, “I was used to mediocre grades. C’s and D’s. At Riverside, I have A’s and B’s!

Daniel

Being held back put me far behind.” He soon realized that if he didn’t make a change, he might not get into high school at all. “I needed something different.” After enrolling at Riverside Daniel now says, “I can do it”, and he wants others to know too. He summarizes it simply, “Riverside is worth it in a situation like mine.

Kordel

"I want to start working as soon as I graduate, that’s why I came here [to Riverside],” he explains, before admitting, “I realized, I just need to get school over with. I don’t want to waste time.”

Kordel’s academic success has him not only confident and thinking about the future – exploring Military options and entrepreneurial ventures, or both! – but for the first time, he’s started enjoying himself at school. “This feels good. Normally, I don’t like school. It feels better actually getting stuff done. Here, it’s better. I actually feel happy.”

Kimari

Kimari had fallen so far behind; he didn’t know what was going to come next. “I was in the 7th grade when I was supposed to be in 10th,” Kimari admits. “I didn’t know if I’d ever make it to high school.”

At Riverside, he found his stride. “It took me four months to finish two grades of middle school.” He could ask for help and was eager to continue learning with his new support system.
